Parippu vada is a traditional evening snack.this is a south Indian snack available in thattuadas.we can preapare easily at our home in evening with a cup of hot chai.It is a cryspy and crunchy snack .we can prepare parippuvada with different varieties of Dal. Usually we use chana dal.
Ingredients:
Chana dal -1 cup
Green chillies -3
Dry red chillies -3
Ginger (chopped) -1 tsp
Shallots -15
Asafoetida powder -1/4 tsp
Curry leaves -1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Preparation:
1. Soak Chana dal for 2 hours.then wash and drain it completely.from this keep aside 2 tbsp of soaked dal.then grind remaining dal.(donot add water while grinding and donot grind it into fine paste)
2. Add slices shallots ,chopped ginger, green chillies,chopped dry red chillies,chopped curryleaves,asafoetida powder and salt.the add soaked dal kept aside earlier.
3. Mix all ingredients together.
4. Heat a pan at medium flame.add oil for deep frying .
5. Take a small portion from the mix in hand ,roll into a ball and flatten with other hand like a disc.then fry in hot oil.
6. Flip vada when the color changes as golden brown.and strain .
Then serve with your favourite chutney .
